LAUNCH

Leaving home for college can be a challenging experience. You may be filled with worries about fitting in, having fun, and making the transition to a new community. What better way to ease your anxieties than by enjoying a few days of relaxation and fun before the rush of fall semester?

Come join us on LAUNCH (Learning and Understanding New and Changing Horizons) in the foothills of the Ozarks Mountains. This is a great opportunity to meet 100 other incoming first-year students in a program led by 20+ enthusiastic upperclassmen. Not only is LAUNCH the largest pre-orientation program, but it is also the oldest and one with the most tradition here at Washington University.

Learning, Experiencing, Having Fun

There is always something to do on LAUNCH. You have the opportunity to participate in group activities, leisure activities, get-to-know-you games, team building activities, and workshops. The interactive workshops deal with many issues that you might encounter at college. Topics include relaxation and stress management, time management, sex and relationships, team building, leadership development, diversity and asset development.

At LAUNCH, you will also have the opportunity to take advantage of Sunnen Lake by canoeing, riding paddleboats, fun-yakking, swimming and enjoying other outdoor activities, such as basketball, volleyball, hiking, miniature golf, and much, much more! We will spend three days and two nights at this beautiful location.  So, join us for a fun-filled head start to the next four years of your life!

Further Information

Once you've been selected to the LAUNCH program, you will receive lots of information telling you everything that you will ever want to know, including arrival times, directions, what to bring, where your parents should stay, and much more. The cost of this program is $ 365. This fee includes all meals, cabins, a T-shirt, water bottle, activities, transportation, and mailings. We hope to hear from you soon!
